OPGI Wins “Best GM Restored Vehicle” at 2011 SEMA Show (For the 4th Time!)

For the 4th time in only 5 years, Original Parts Group has earned the prestigious Best GMChevelle 1972 Restoration
Restored Vehicle Award! At the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV, the OPGI team blew the minds of show exhibitors with the sleek, eye-catching, gold 1972 Chevelle SS Convertible (see pictures below). The award was presented on the iconic 100th anniversary of Chevrolet “driving, building, and living a passion for cars.”

Every year we bring a car that features OPGI products to the SEMA Show so that people can see the fit and finish of our quality restoration parts.  We chose to restore the ’72 Chevelle to debut at the SEMA Show based on two big releases for OPGI: convertible pinchweld moldings and wheel opening moldings. After years of developing and manufacturing these parts to get them just right, they were featured on the ’72 Chevelle and are now available for sale to the public.

For the past seven years, we have worked with Joel Hoffman of JH Restorations in Riverside, CA. We supplied all the Chevelle 1972 parts for a full frame-off restoration.  Joel and crew tore it down, media-blasted and went to work installing new quarter panels, trunk pan, hood and fenders. Then it was off to Starside Design for body and paint work. Doug Starbuck of Starside applied the stock placer gold paint and topped it off with black SS stripes. Back at JH, the re-assembly continued with hundred of new Chevelle parts from OPGI. Sean Murphy of SMI Carburetors supplied a re-worked Holley® 750 carburetor and Ron Mangus Interiors installed the new convertible top.

2012 marks the 30th anniversary for Original Parts Group, so be expecting even more great things to come! Thanks for following.
