Must Have Chevelle Interior Restoration Accessory for Under $100

1965 Chevelle door sill step plates

Even if you have already invested a lot of time and money into the exterior and interior appearance of your classic Chevelle, you might not have given much thought to those areas in between where the door sill plates reside. Door sill step plates are not exactly exterior items and they are not visible when you sit inside your car with the doors closed, but a set of shiny new sills are a great welcoming feature when entering your car and they are also a very easy upgrade you can do on your own at home. Although the sill/step plates are often out of sight, old worn out sills will degrade the overall condition of your car’s appearance. A shiny new pair of door sill step plates will help seal your car properly and also make you feel a bit better every time you get into your car.

OPGI offers authentic reproduction Chevelle step plates in three different styles to cover the span from 1964 to 1977.

Chevelle Step Plates Part #CHV4150 cover the years from ’64 to ’67. These plates come in the correct aluminum Fisher Body ribbed style pairs that are true to the original design prior to the later GM switch to non-ribbed Chevelle Step Plates. Like all of OPGI’s period-correct GM parts, these reproduced sill plates are identical to the original parts produced in the 1960s and early 1970s, complete with the “Body by Fisher” tag riveted on. These plates are sold as a pair at the OPGI Price of $69.99.

Chevelle Step Plates Part #K33623 cover the years from ’68 to ’72 and are exact authentic reproductions of the original GM product. These new aluminum step plates are finished in the factory correct ribbed style design for the ’68 to ’72 Chevelle and also feature the “Body by Fisher” tag riveted in place. The ’68 to ‘72 door sill step plates are sold in driver side and passenger side pairs for $69.99.

If you have a 1973 to 1977 Chevelle, you’ll need OPGI’s Chevelle Step Plates Part #CH24885. These plates come in the correct aluminum Fisher Body “waffle pattern” finish that GM used on the later ‘70s Chevelles. The ’73 to ’77 plates are authentic reproductions of the original GM product right down to the original riveted-quality “Body by Fisher” tags that only OPGI delivers. Unlike poor quality knock off door sills that require you to glue the center badge to the sill plate, the OPGI-made reproductions feature the timeless badge “pre-riveted” to the plate because that’s how GM produced them in the first place. The authentic reproduction ’73 to ’77 step plates are sold in pairs for $83.99, and prove that you don’t need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make a real difference in your classic Chevelle’s appearance.
