Original Parts Group SEMA 2018 Recap

After yet another year, the OPGI team headed back to Las Vegas to display at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, better known as SEMA. This year OPGI had a lot of new things to show off including a beautifully restored 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder. Check out the videos below to see more of the show!

Above is an interview with the men behind the build of OPGI’s 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder. The in-house project began in April of 2018 and was finished just in time for the SEMA show at the end of October 2018. Watch Tom, Doug and Jeff Farina discuss the process, struggles, and victories that were part of this in-house build.

All Girls Garage Star Cristy Lee came by our booth to sign autographs for fans and discuss her latest project on her grandparent’s 1967 Grand Prix convertible. Take a look at the video with Cristy talking about restoration parts and OPGI.

In addition to the Corvair, OPGI brought its GM Design Award winning 1966 Chevelle SS396. When choosing a secondary vehicle for our booth, we decided to let our social media fans and employees vote on their favorite. This beautiful Chevelle made it’s 3rd appearance at the show and drew in quite the crowd.

This year OPGI teamed up with Powernation TV to host the 2018 “Win Big” Contest. The lucky winner Scott Dawson won a two-day trip to SEMA 2018 plus parts credit from OPGI presented by OPGI CEO and founder Dave Leonard along with Katie Osborne and Mark Crist from Powernation at the OPGI booth.

Throughout the SEMA show, there were several GM vehicles that incorporated OPGI parts. One of these vehicles belongs to 17-year-old Dylan Lieberman. Unfortunately, due to schoolwork, Dylan was unable to attend the SEMA show, but we got to speak with his father Ryno from Rynobuilt Rod & Custom, who helped Dylan throughout the process of his first project, a 1964 El Camino.

In addition to the cool Chevys shown above, there were quite a few Pontiacs on display with OPGI parts.  Take a look at this quick interview with Phil Gerber from Roadster Shop in Mundelein, IL. Phil and his team built this 1971 Judge for the SEMA show and made it to the top 40 vehicles in Battle of the Builders. Watch the interview above.
