OPGI’S 1967 Buick GS: Fun Facts

Did you know that Original Parts Group was awarded “Best GM Restored Vehicle” for our 1967 Buick GS 400 at the SEMA Show in 2009? in fact, that was the 3rd year in a row that OPGI was presented with the prestigious award. In 2007 the award went to our 1966 Chevelle and in 2008 our 1968 Pontiac GTO was recognized. Can you spot all three award winners in the image below?

The Best GM Restored vehicle award recognized the quality and originality of OPGI’s restoration parts that went onto the ’67 Buick. OPGI provided off-the-shelf parts and teamed with Joel Hoffman of J&H Restoration to assist in coordinating the build. When it is not on display at an event or in OPGI’s showroom it is likely that our Marketing team is putting it to good use. The vehicle has partaken in countless photoshoots and has appeared on not one but five of our annual restoration and performance catalog covers and three of our summer sale book covers, covering 1961-72 Buick Skylark, GS, GSX, and Special models.

One of the most memorable shoots of this Buick was during the filming for our 2019 commercial featuring Cristy Lee. During the shoot, we also managed to get some photos of Cristy with the other two GM Best Restored award-winning vehicles. Cristy was a huge fan of all three.

Take a look under the hood in the image above. You may have mistaken that red air cleaner for an aftermarket piece, just as so many others have including Cristy, but it is in fact it is the original!
